Geographic Information System (GIS)
The GIS provides services and support to all divisions in the Public Works and Community Development Department as well as other City of Somerton Departments. The GIS goal is to create and maintain accurate geographic information that conforms to standards enabling data sharing and collaborative decision-making. The GIS is responsible to assign new addresses, to correct addresses that are found to be invalid as well as maintain and update municipal Geographic Information System.
The following maps are large files and will take a few minutes to load with a dial-up Internet connection. Most of the maps are provided in PDF format to allow for greater detail and added features. PDF documents require that you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to view the files. Most newer computers already have Acrobat Reader installed. If you need Reader, or would like the latest version, you can download and install the program at no charge by clicking HERE.
Acrobat Reader will allow you to print high resolution maps and has a "magnifier" tool to allow you to zoom in on your area of interest. If desired, Acrobat will print the "current view" to provide a map only of the area of interest. Just click the "Current View" button in the Print Range section when printing.
